Who am I?
The question, Who am I? is probably the most asked question by all humans for millennia. The quest for self-knowledge has been asked by all of us at some point in our lives. Philosophers both ancient and modern regard this quest or thirst for self-knowledge can be the most difficult to attain within our own individual lifetimes and yet there is a science that can reveal some if not all the answers that we seek.
This science is Astrology, it has been used and developed for many thousands of years to give us the answer to, Who am I? Astrology is based on the belief that each and everyone has their own unique character or makeup determined at the exact time of birth. It’s like a fingerprint in that nobody has the exact same uniqueness as anyone else and so deciding that persons oneness within the universe.
To be able to see this fingerprint professional Astrologers are able to map out or cast a Natal or Birth chart by calculating where and how the planets of our solar system affects us individually at the exact time of our birth and so can produce a personality portrait demonstrating each persons talents, future potentials, limitations, failings, responsibilities, assets and much more. In general, who that person really is and what they have to offer the rest of the world within their lifetime and sometimes beyond.
By reading and understanding our Natal chart we can now choose which direction or path to follow and have a greater understanding not only of ourselves but others we meet and interact with on a daily basis. Many of us open the daily paper and read our horoscope for that day with the belief that what we read can influence us in certain decision making but this is only a generalisation of our own specific star sign. By using our own personal natal chart and comparing by calculating the movement of the planets we are able to see many influences that may or may not affect is on a daily basis. Astrologers can accomplish this by using a system called Transits, which in turn measures the planets individual orbits against the static plants in our Natal chart and so produces a report detailing the effects and influences the orbiting planets have at the time of calculation. These calculations can also be termed as forecasts, future events enabling us to be aware of positive and negative forces which allow us to negate these future events with positive actions.
In writing this article I have no intention in delving into the depths of how to produce Natal charts or how to calculate Transits, Forecasts and indeed the many facets Astrology can produce, but to introduce and explain to the casual observer how Astrology can be used accurately in many areas of our lives. Some sceptics might say that Astrology is a divinatory system that lays alongside Tarot, Runes, I Ching and many other systems of which are not exact sciences in fortune telling and being able to predict the future. I have to disagree purely on the basis that I have studied and used Astrology for over 25 years and have found it be a very accurate system in my development as a councillor, writer and psychotherapist to many hundreds of people worldwide.
I use Astrology alongside Tarot and other systems not as a predictive tool but to clarify some of the greyer areas that sometimes crop up in many of my readings. If you would like to try or use Astrology in your day-to-day life then why not search the internet for free Astrology software or online sites such as Astrodienst which has probably the best online software to produce your own Natal/Birth chart, and it’s free.
